my photography
From a young age I have always been interested in Art and most specifically Photography. Ihave always enjoyed having my camera with me capturing images of people, landscapes, city lifeand BMX riding. I am intrigued in how the world can be documented through the medium ofphotography. This passion has developed through studying BTEC National Diploma in Art & Designcourse at Salford City College. One of theassignments I took part in was a Community Art project, where I worked in a team alongsidesome Special Needs students. The aim was to design and create a series of vibrant murals fortheir environment. The murals were inspired by 1950's home magazine adverts and Banksy'sironic messages. I was given the responsibility of photographing and documenting the wholeprocess, this gave me a real sense of achievement and recognition as a photographer. I alsodeveloped my ability to work in a team, with a limited budget and under pressure.
I have an avid interest other photographers and various types of cameras. I am keen to share skills with others, but most of all learn and develop my techniques from more experienced photographers, the photographs I have submitted were chosen specifically from my hobby of BMX, capturing emotion and different atmospheres.
I enjoy working in abstract ways with my camera; experimenting with light exposure, movement and angles. The environment in which I spend most of my time, aside from the Art Department at college, is urban skate parks. I love the fact that I can instantly capture the movement, speed and thrill of these types of extreme sports. I am currently studying a BTEC National Diploma in Art & Design, and feel it equips me with many creative skills in observing, composing and analysing art. I am very passionate about my camera and look forward to studying the subject even more seriously.
